Last month was my mother’s 60th birthday and I wanted to get her something special, yet practical. I cannot tell you how many times I have bought her something that usually just ends up on display somewhere in my parents’ home. She always says how much she loves my gifts, but I knew that I wanted to get her something that she would actually use every day. Avoiding the usual porcelain figurines and salad bowls, I decided to buy her a luxury watch.
Shopping for my mother is no easy task because she’s extremely particular with just about everything. She has been a minimalist her entire life, so I wanted to buy her a watch that would be simple, yet unique. As I endlessly searched the internet for the perfect watch, I kept coming across overtly flashy watches which screamed everything my mother would not want. Finally, I came across a movado watch advertisement in a magazine and knew she would love its simplicity and elegance. When I gave her the watch, the look on her face was priceless. She gasped, “What a pleasant surprise! I thought this would be another crystal cat figurine!” Finally, the real truth has come out.
